Blackcurrant smoothie with buttermilk and cream

Blackcurrants have a wonderful aromatic flavour that is ideal for smoothies. In this recipe, the dark little berries are blended with buttermilk and ginger into an ice cold and fresh smoothie. For a smoothie that is more like a milkshake, you can add extra sweetness in the form of sugar or honey. This smoothie should be enjoyed ice cold!

  • Place the buttermilk and the other ingredients in a blender. Blend the drink until it has a smooth and even consistency. Adjust the flavour with a little more ginger or vanilla. Sieve out any pips, then pour into small, cold glasses and serve immediately. This smoothie is great for a daily shot of linseed oil or fish oil, which can easily be blended into the smoothie along with the other ingredients.
